Black Teens Win Essay Contest on Topic of White Privilege
Black Teens Win Essay Contest on Topic of White PrivilegeThe essay competitions are sprouting up everywhere now but the winner of a Black teen wins essay contest on the topic of white privilege is unique and special. It can really be a touching experience to win such a competition but as you know one's ability to win essay contests in general can be dependent on their academic skills and the level of knowledge possessed by the student. In the present scenario the critical thinking skills of students are deteriorating fast due to the high levels of competition in the form of essay contests which tend to simplify the subject by imposing an all-or-nothing approach. The advanced mathematics and science skills of students have been based on the assumption that only when a problem has been solved, an explanation must be given in the form of a formal essay. While in the past this assumption was true the situation is completely different today. The most important skills acquired by any individ ual are the skill of analysis and evaluation. The analysis of the entire situation rather than just one part plays a vital role in analyzing and evaluating the problems encountered in an exam. This holds equally true in the essay contests. For instance, it is clear that the debate that has taken place over the last two decades or so on the issue of White Privilege has undergone a huge shift as a result of the emergence of Black Privilege and Ideals. An understanding of the concepts associated with the concept of White Privilege will help in understanding the emerging trend of Black Privilege and what it stands for. The concept of Black Privilege however has to be understood from an angle that does not assume superiority over non-Black people. It is a fact that Blacks need to understand and embrace the concept of positive attitude and self-esteem which can be attained by treating the non-Black races as equals and letting them lead the way. What we find in Black teenswin essay contest o n the topic of white privilege is that Black people are happy with the prospect of showing that they are successful and have succeeded without being 'White' and want to tell the world that they can succeed too.So while acknowledging that their lives have been affected by the injustices inflicted on them, the Black teens who take part in the writing contest on the topic of white privilege try to emphasize their life experiences as a cause for their achievements. This is an added bonus that can help them in winning the contest. It also helps in building their self-confidence.The Black teens who win essay contest on the topic of white privilege are only able to do this because of their deep knowledge of English. What I am saying here is that if the Black teens who are competing in the writing contest on the topic of white privilege have to rely on other languages and information and resources for the purpose of writing the essay they will find it very difficult to win the contest. For instance, in order to write about something like; 'The Thesis of Re-Imagining Black Youth' they will find it very difficult to make the concepts of reality and the experience of real life work.Essays on various subjects can be written using basic English so long as it is written in the spirit of 'reality'. One should remember that even though the students may be successful in winning essay contests on topics of white privilege, it is the state of mind that matters. Good Luck to the Black teens who have won the contest!
